Yet I still think it is a flash in the pan. Others may strongly disagree but I think it is poorly directed in it’s application. The sticking point for me is relevance. Is it relevant for a social media strategy to be part of a business make up? Was the quality standards that became the catch phrase of the 90′s applicable to all business? How many business dollars were wasted on hype. How many consultants took advantage of this? Seeing the “three ticks” for a quality standard looked out of place on some business logo’s. Todays Juxtaposition in a website for me is the Facebook connect link or even to the point of offering a visitor to your site the option to follow on Twitter. The facts on social medias penetration are undeniable and quite impressive. Social media will always sustain itself. It thrives on our inert need to express and communicate in one way or another. With one another. About one another. The worlds rate of absorption is escalating as technology breaks down boundaries.

Erik Qualman from Socialnomics has just released Social Media Revolution 2, a refresh based on his original video from 2009 that had about 2 million views on YouTube and was a must watch video with some amazing statistics. For 2010, he has updated the video with the latest stats, figures and information on everything social, along with upgrading some of the graphics and a few animation elements. Unfortunately, it still has the same soundtrack! Enjoy the video.
